Just reloaded XP Pro (SP2) and now I have a log on screen. Used to go directly to the desktop, which is what I'm after.

    Broni,
    You came through as usual.
    Any thoughts on this one...?
I finally reloaded XP Pro (SP2) today. After hrs downloading/loading programs it just stopped working. XP wouldn't load at all. I kept doing system restores from earlier in the day - went though the entire list and nothing worked. The last thing I did before it quit working was adjust colors in display properties/appearance.
Had to redo the whole thing again.
Also downloaded the same (older) version of iTunes I've always used and it wouldn't work. I'm stumped dude!

Remember when we did the malware check - after that it was suggested I reload XP. In fact Pete had suggested it a while back.
Today I reloading it only redid the C: partition, left the rest as was. This was the 1st redo of XP since I built the box 4 yrs ago.

What was the ad blocker you suggested? I use FF and just tried Adblock Plus 1.1.3 and it didn't do anything. Yes, it was enabled. :D

Wait. I'm confused now because you mixed up previous problems with some current ones.

What are the issues right now?

    Finally - I confused you!

It seems fine now. BUt earlier - I blew out the whole day only to have XP fail. I've now reloaded it again and it seems fine.

But it's reorganised my partitions. Is there a way to change them?

all have different letters now. Can I change them back?
Oh, and iTunes has now loaded, but will not play anything. Any thoughts?
And I'm looking for an ad blocker.

I don't ask for much!

    Another idea.
I have a clone of the drive. Can I just transfer the cloned partitions from the clone to the drive I'm using?
    If so, how?

    I use Adblock Plus.

I'm not sure about two other questions. Wait for others :)
