This disk appeared when I put my failing Win98 hard drive in my XP system to see if it would read it. Now, anytime I go to My Computer, it shows this disk. It's not a big deal, but I would like to remove it from My Computer. it doesn't exist, so there is no use having it there. Any suggestions? Thnaks.

Is there an entry for it in Device Manager - if so try remove/uninstall.

    Pete,

I can not find an entry for the drive anywhere. There is nothing in Device Manager. Any other place I can look?

    Try this ....

Right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management.

If it shows there right click on it > Change drive letter and paths and in the dialogue box which appears click on the Remove button.

    Pete,

It's not there either. I wish it was.

Can you reconnect the drive and go through the procedure I outlined?

The drive freezes up my system. I can not get anywhere. Am I stuck with it?

Looks like you're stuck with it unless some one else has any ideas - I'm fresh out of them :)

    Pete,

Go ahead, you can call me an idiot. For some reason, I right clicked on the mystery drive and went to the hardware tab. It listed my drives and my new Hp printer, which happens to have different card readers for digital cameras/flash memory. I unplugged the USB cord on the printer and the mystery drive disappeared. ****, I feel stupid! Looking back at your suggestions, I see that it is listed in Device Manager. It's listed as the printer, so I didn't even give it a second thought. I'm going to go smack myself with a hammer now.

All's well the ends well :) - thanks for clearing up that mystery. I don't have a printer with a built in card reader so the thought never crossed my mind.
