Those little icons are in the SYSTEM TRAY. A lot of them will appear when certain programs are running. But as you note, some programs are unnecessarily running.

I use the freeware Startup Control by Mike Lin (www.mlin.org) to stop a lot of the unnecessary. I also use his companion utility Startup Monitor. A lot of programs I might want to start only once, but they want to start all the time. Startup Monitor tells you when something is trying to install itself to the bootup.

    Hi, Lucky ~

You really should open up the respective programs and check where the options are available. Most of them will have one or both the ability to disable the tray icon and/or keep the prog from running at startup.

MSCONFIG is really only for temporary purposes best used for diagnosing a bevy of issues.
