    My previous OS doesn't exist anymore, yet there is a dual boot menu which appears at boot time. Which files do I need to delete to remove the boot up menu?

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit your boot.ini file, first un-check the Read Only attribute through the file properties, and restore Read Only when finished. HTH :)

    Dr;

    Have discovered that when all else fails clicking on:
    Start > Help > <typing in problem> - in your case : DUAL BOOT -sometimes works for neat answers.

    I wouldn't manually edit boot.ini if I were you, because it can be a risky thing to do. You can choose in XP what you want to automatically load on bootup. Load up system properies, click the Advanced tab, and click the Startup and Recovery Settings button. Choose which operating system you want in the dropdown list, then uncheck the 'time to display operating systems' button, and you'll never see that screen again.
