Ramona, how can I remove buttons from the personal toolbar in NS7. I want to configure a build to install without these buttons. Can I add "pref" statements to a (netscape.cfg) file?

    Thanks,

    Welcome to the Forum, primecutt!

    Hi primecutt,

I believe that if this can be done, it would be in the userChrome.css file. Let me do some looking around and see what I can come up with. It will be later this evening before I get back to you.

How about Edit/Preferences/Navigator and bottom third of page has check blocks?

    primecutt,

I believe there are several ways to accomplish what you want, but they can be involved, with no guarantee of success.

You might try the Netscape CCK, which may allow you to remove the personal bar buttons, but after a quick look I cannot be sure.

    http://home.netscape.com/download/cck.html
    http://ftp15c.newaol.com/pub/cck/english/7.0/

You could attempt to edit the all-ns.js file, and edit out the buttons you do not want. This will affect all new profiles that are created, as will the other *.js files in the same directory. Backups are recommended. You will have to search for the file, I don't have N7 here.

I believe the most direct way is to download the full N7 installer, and extract the files like so from the command prompt into an empty directory.

    NSSetupB.exe -u

And look in the browser.xpi file, and edit the all-ns.js file. It should use your preferences by default on install. You can open xpi files in winzip, winrar, or possibly other archivers. Make sure the path inside the archive doesn't change or it will not work properly.
