[Inactive] How do I remove advanced-System Protector Virus

Family member has windows XP PC. It has apparently gotten a virus called Advanced-System protector. She has Norton Security suite but that does not seem to recognize the program as a virus.
An internet search turned up all sorts of programs that say they will get rid of this, but I have no idea what is or is not safe to use.
An attempt to uninstall of the program resulted in the following

"Advanced-system Protector "“ I was able to uninstall it "“ during uninstall got all kinds of requests to chat etc from explorer, PC support "“ free trial program "

What can I do to get rid of this program. I did manage to disable it from startup using MSCONFIG.

Is a very annoying program and not sure what else it is doing to the PC.

    Thank you

As of now we did manage to uninstall the program . We hope that we have gotten all that had to be removed. Just kept retrying the install and saying no to everything and it presumably has gone away.

Thank you for you help. I will be closing this thread now.

Your call, but it may still be wise to check that the PC is clean. I'm sure Broni will have a view on this!
