    Hi all,

I asked a question and about a minute later I found the answer in my notes. I tried to delete my post and not waste anybodys time but I couldn't; so I wrote this instead.

    How do I withdraw\delete a post?

Edit and delete, though to be honest it would probably be better if you edited with a solution for others to use in the future.

If you mark your thread as solved then you won't waste anyone's time.

That's a questions I've often wondered about, the Edit button shows Edit/Delete when the mouse is over it, but there doesn't appear to be any delete facility.

You are not allowed to delete a post.

You could edit a post, but instead you should just post your solution so that others could benefit.

That's the whole idea behind a community/forum that we have here.

OK, so when I ask a stupid question and then the second cup of coffee kicks in and I realize, "Well, duh, you idiot, it's in my notes. ", I should just mark it as "Resolved "?

Arie, after all these years I've only got one "reputation square" and I'd like to maintain at least a modicum of dignity by being able to delete some of my more whacko posts\replies.

    Like this one. :p

Don't feel bad jpChris I joined two months before you did and I only have one reputation square but it took me seven years four months to become a Geek Member. Which I hope is a record.

Is it actually impossible to activate a delete function on this forum or do the owners of the site choose to have it that way. Everyone makes mistakes, it seems foolish that there is no facility to eradicate your own errors. Having to change a mistake into an informative solution is not always possible.

What Arie means is that you should post the solution you found in your notes and then mark the thread as resolved.

I have at least two cups of coffe prior to coming here but it doesn't always help ... ... !

It is of my choosing to disable the delete function.

There are quite a lot of people that once their post/question is resolved want to go back and delete the question. That helps no one.

We all make errors, you can post a reply to correct them!

No need to discuss this, as there won't be the ability to delete posts. Only moderators can delete posts.
