I can't seem to find a way to permanently remove icons from system tray and it has 11 icons there now and they keep reappaering when the computer reboots. There's to many icons in the tray and I heard it can take up system resources and a friend told me not to have more than 3 or 4 in the tray, but when I researched it said it can be hard to remove certain ones because it's hard to find out where it's from and says try to right or left click over the icon and click either remove from system tray or an option that says something like go away. There is nothing except for exit or close and exit etc... and they reappear everytime causing slowness and sometimes 3 of the same sun java icons appear and then dissappear causing problems .

    Hi Newbie,

Basically gave you the answer in your Task Manager thread - to eliminate things from the tray, have to stop them from starting at bootup thru msconfig > startup tab after you find out what they are - the site references I gave you.

    Regards - Charles
