I am new to Windows7. I always moved my document folders ie: excel, word, etc, to a different HD so that I could back up the data easier. Also the ducument, pictures buttons pointed to them. I don't have any idea how to do this in Win7. Can anyone help?

That's easy to do in Windows 7: Open Windows Explorer, select the Documents library, click on the link under the text Documents library, which will say "includes: 2 locations" by default, click the Add... button and browse to the new location. You can create a new folder from within the "Include Folder in Documents ".

Right-click the new location and select Set as default save location

Sorry this is so late, have been sick and did not get around to it. Have not tried it but don't think this is what I wanted. Did not want the items in 2 places, taking up more room that way, I wanted it instead of default.

The folders and files listed in Libraries are actually shortcuts, so only a few Kb are used.

Yes I realize that but, it says it will keep all the files in both places.

Libraries don't actually exist anywhere. Libraries are just pointers to folders where the actual files exist. It would be possible to have three or four libraries all "containing" the same files, but there would still only be one version of each file. You could then use one library to delete a selection, and it would then disappear in ALL libraries.

Of course, I have my own solution to the library problem. I just deleted them (the libraries, not the folders or files).

Yes, but when you move the existing files to the new location and set the default save location as I suggested all files will be in the new place only.

You might try it, it works.

Okay, did that except I just copied them over to make sure that I didn't mess it up. Now should I delete the originals in the old location?

I left mine there. They don't take up space when empty...
