I got a new video card so I could play a game that I got for Christmas, Medal of Honor Pacific Assault. I got an ATI Radeon 9250 256mb PCI. I've been playing the game for about a month now, and the performance has been less than desired. The action is a bit choppy, but the worse part is the sound. The sound stutters badly. I also installed a new sound card, a Creative Soundblaster 24-bit. I went to their web site and they said my sound drivers are up-to-date. Prior to this, I might add, I only had onboard video and sound. I went to the game's tech support at EA Games. They had me send them a report from dxdiag. They replied and said I needed an updated driver for my video card. They provided a link to ATI and said to go to drivers and software, click on my operating system, then click on my video card type. I did so, clicking on Radeon. I was then presented with four choices in the right pane. They were Catalyst 5.3 Windows XP - Driver download, ATI Multimedia Center 9.06, Hydravision - for Radeon and mobile ATI products, and Catalyst driver feedback. My question is how do I know what to select to download? I went to Device Manager to check the driver version for the display driver and it said it was 6.14.10.6458 with a date of 7-10-04.
Once I find the correct stuff to download, I do plan to follow the advice posted above regarding updating drivers. It looked like good stuff. I plan to download that driver cleaner tool prior to doing anything.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You want the Catalyst 5.3 Windows XP Driver download. The others are extras that you can install if you need the features they offer. Be sure to read the instructions for uninstalling the old driver and installing the new one in the release notes.
