Is there a way to find out if my computer has an ethernet card and or adapter in it? I'm very clueless when it comes to these things. Thanks for your help.

    ik0106,

An easy way is to look at the back of your system. Look for a telephone connection with two lights right next to the plug in. That will be your network card. You can also look in your Device Manager for Network adapters.

The plug opening will be larger than a phone plug but very similar and, in fact, your phone cord will plug into the center of it. Won't do anything but it will fit.

Er vinodhprabhu - ipconfig will only work IF you have TCP/IP bound to the network card. NetBeui & IPX/SPX don't have it.
