How do I jump start XP Pro?

    I think XP Pro is the best windows OS I've used (started w/ 95), but dang is it slow to start up and shut down.
    I use Avast antivirus, and no malware, or spyware.

    How can I tweak this baby to make her fly?

    Look in Task Manager - how many running processes? I keep mine around the 40 mark.

    Look at processes which start on boot - probably a lot of unnecessary ones. The best way of controlling these is not through msconfig, but using one of these ....
