How do I import Netscape 6 email into OE???

Can anyone help???

I would like to import my Netscape 6 email into Outlook Express... (the reason being, that from there, I can import into Outlook, and backing up and restoring email in Outlook is a breeze!!!)

OE does not recognize Netscape 6, and I have tried saving the files (ie: "Inbox ", "Sent ", etc...) into another folder, but OE still will not import (neither will Outlook). Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Here is a workaround I found with a groups.google.com search.

It requires having Netscape Communicaor 4.xx installed, copying the netscape6 mail file, for example, "inbox" to a temp folder or desktop, renaming something like inbox6, then placing this FILE inside your Program Files\Netscape\USERS\yourprofilename\MAIL folder. It SHOULD appear when you next open Communicator.

( I just tried it using Mozilla mail and it does appear, as a subfolder under Inbox inside Communicator).

Then you should be able to import from there using Outlook Express ( File Import Messages...) Does that work?

You will need to also install an earlier version of Netscape 4.5 or so. Many Mozilla or NS beta users already had such on their computers so its not a problem. Then follow the instructions below:

1) Close all versions of Netscape completely.
2) Open C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Users50\ "your profile name "something.slt\Mail\ "the mail account name "
3) Copy only the mail boxes not the msf files and paste these items onto the desktop.
4) Rename these boxes to unique mail folders names such as oldinbox6 or oldsent6
5) Place these files into C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\ "Your
profile "\Mail
6) Next time you launch Netscape Communicator with that profile your Netscape 6 mail should be in the containers with the names you specified.
7) You can then import them into Outlook Express using File/Import/Messages.
