    Hi Alex

Try using the F9 key. That sends it all the way to the left and when you hit F9 it opens.

    Hi Alex & bobw,

You can also click the toggle bar, which is in the center of the left pane which separates the sidebar from the main frame.

This is also a permanent solution for getting rid of the sidebar.

The solutions suggested so far are solutions I have already tried. They make it disappear; but, as soon as I go to another site, it pops back out. I hate that aggravating thing.

Anyway, for some reason it seems to have disappeared permanently now. I don't know why it did; but, I don't care as long as it is gone for good.

It would be nice to know how to make it go away permanently. I do re-set up my machine frequently and I would like to have a definitive method that worked.

    Alex,

This is what I have done, and I make continuous changes, to get rid of the sidebar permanently. The sidebar has never reappeared, after following these steps:

    Open the sidebar
    Remove all tabs

Click "View" or F9 (as suggested by bobw) and disable My Sidebar

You should definitely, not ever, see the sidebar enabled.
