I have a few sites setup in my "trusted sites" list. I find that when I go from a site that is a trusted site to a site that isn't a trusted site I get a security warning. I think it works on the inverse also.

I've looked at "internet options" > "security" > "custom level" to see if there was an option to turn the warnings off but I could not find anything that I thought resembled this area.

While this doesn't keep me from getting where I want to go I find the warnings irritating. So far in my life I have not clicked on anything except "yes" and don't see a value add here.

Can someone please help me stop these messages?

    Thanks.

    Hi, Jim. :)

Assuming you're using IE 7, click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab and then scroll down almost to the end.

Please try unchecking "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode "

I went to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and found the item titled "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode." I'm sorry to report that the check box was NOT checked

    Plan B

In Internet Options > Security tab > Internet zone > Custom level > Miscellaneous section is an item labeled "Websites in less privileged content zone can navigate into this zone "

There is a similar setting for the "Trusted sites" zone as well.

Perhaps changing those settings from "Prompt" to "Enable" will get rid of at least some of the security warnings.

I fiddled with it and haven't seen anything promising. You know, this all started when I added things to my "trusted sites." I did that because I was fighting with my firewall and that fixed that problem but maybe started this one. Maybe I should just scrap the trusted sites list and see what happens.

I wish the warning had a specific number attached to it so I could search microsoft. I did try a search there on "security warning" but that was like looking up Smith in the phone book.

I'm stll open for suggestions

    What Microsoft has to say.

I did finally find reference to my problem in the MS Knowledge base. It's article 258510.

The net of what they say is if you get this message add the site that is causing the message to your trusted sites list.

The way I see it, this would be like 1000 mousetraps with ping pong balls sitting on them... once it starts there is no stopping it or... I'll be adding sites till I'm older than dirt.

Can you post a screenshot of the warning? - either by attachment here (Contributing Members only) or on a photo hosting site like Photobucked and post the URL here.

Google was a great way to go... Mailman was really close.

    Go to:
internet options/security/trusted sites/custom level/ (near the bottom) Websites in less privileged content zone... etc
change the option from prompt (default) to disable.

I have read somewhere that this is a security feature and by disabling it you may be exposing yourself. Since I have NEVER answered the security question with a no I can't see the risk at this point.

Lets hope Murphies Law isn't just around the corner on this one.

Thanks y'all for you help :D

    Correction

A oops if you will.... The option to set should be ENABLE. If you select DISABLE you aren't going to be able to open some web pages.

Glad to hear you found the solution - I think Mailman was right on the button :)
