I have Outlook 2010 Home edition. It opens in safe mode. It just started doing this today. How do I get it out of safe mode?

Hi Alicia 3, This is probably the procedure you need to follow: "I can’t start Microsoft Outlook 2010 or 2013 or receive the error "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook Windowâ€

Have a look at the whole page as there is an option to run the Repair tool in 2 links at the bottom of the page. Neil.

Ok thanks. I just used system restore to reverse updates today and Outlook is back to normal. I'm trying them again to see if it happens again.

I'll check out your link too. Thanks.

I discovered that the cause is KB3114409 an update for Microsoft Outlook 2010. I uninstalled it, then ran troubleshooter to hide it.

I'm glad we know what the problem KB is. I hope they fix it and reissue it, or just pull it.

Something is fixed - having restored yesterday after downloading/installing the updates some updates were downloaded again automatically. This time around KB3114409 was not offered although it still shows as installed. Another Outlook 2010 update was downloaded - KB2760779. After installation the issue seems to be fixed.
