Format a floppy in the appropriate OS (important, W2K NTLDR can't boot XP although the reverse is fine). Copy the following files from the root of your boot drive to the floppy (they're all hidden and system attributes):

    boot.ini
    ntldr
    ntdetect.com

Once you've booted from the floppy, F8 at the menu will give a list of boot/recovery options.
