I am trying to build a copy of our accounts SQL server, and I know nothing about setting up SQL. The installation notes I have tell me to "Attach database ".

I find that it needs an MDF file. I cannot detach and copy from the live server because it is in use, but I have a .bak file created by a SQL backup routine every night, can I rename that .mdf and attach?

    Any help gratefully received.

SQL also has a "restore" routine that will use the .bak file.
