I keep trying to capture video to my laptop but i keep getting the message:the dv device is unavailable for device control or unable to connect to capture driver.what exactly is the problem and how do i solve it?
If i actually need a dv driver that will enable me capture, where do i get it from?

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

Do you have the manual/User Guide for the camera? Check that the setup/cabling is correct.

If you don't have the manual, go to the camcoder manufacturer's website, it should be available for download. Check for FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and try a search for the wording in the error message.

Is it Windows that is trying to run the capture or a third-party program?

It may require drivers to be installed. Did the camcorder come with an accompanying CD? Again, check at the manufacturer's website (and there may be updated drivers).

Are the cables you are using the correct ones for connecting to the PC?

    Matt
