I have Win XP. My VS just found a virus in "System Volume Information" which is located in the C:\ drive, root folder.

When i try to view this folder, nothing shows up. I'm sure there must be a way to access this folder and then delete the virus.

But McAfee has now stopped reporting this virus even though I didn't clean it.

    Anyone know the deal?

    Hello Jetheat,

The "System Volume Information" file is System Restore's restore points. To make sure that no virus can recontaminate your system again:

Control Panel > performance & maintenance (if XP view) > system > System Restore tab.

There, tick the "turn off system restore.." box > reboot. This will empty the System Volume Information file of all restore points.

Then turn SR back on, reboot. The system will create an initial restore point.

    Regards - Charles
