Sorry for this newbie question, but how do I create a bootable DVD from the ISO-file Windows 8 Developer Preview that I downloaded?

Explanations on other sites often refers to different CD/DVD burning programs avoiding to explain what (and why it) needs to be done in simple terms.

And why, You might ask, downloading something I don't know how to use properly?
Because it's fun - and maybe I'll learn somthing :)

    Welcome to WindowsBBS:)

Windows 7 has built in DVD burning software .....

Burn a Disc Image from an ISO or IMG file in Windows 7

Using other third party programs the menu choice you are looking for is 'Burn Image'.

In Nero 10 for example this choice is under Recorder > Burn Image

    Thanks for answering my question.
And I did just that i.e. used Windows 7 burning software
All it did was copying the iso-file to the DVD which turned out to be completely useless, because my computer couldn't neither open nor boot from the DVD.
Hence the question. So before making a new coaster I just wanted to gather som intel.

It's not clear from your post whether or not you succeeded in burning the image file to a bootable DVD. Please clarify.

Content on DVD as follows: E:\WindowsDeveloperPreview-32bit-English.iso
As I understand it Windows burning software just copied the file on to the DVD
But if I understand you right any software that is able to burn an image will unpack the iso-file and put it on the DVD - and even make it bootable?

Yes - You have made a mistake somewhere - I have just used the procedure outlined in the URL I posted to create a Windows 7 x64 installation DVD from an ISO file - see screenshot of DVD conrents.
