I have several XP shortcut icons to websites that change to something different when I create the same shortcut in Win7.

How can I copy the original icon from XP and include the identical gif that I had into Win7?

I use both IE11 and FF.

Go to the web site and then create a new shortcut would be the simple thing to do.

    Steve,

The problem is when I create a new shortcut, the shortcut created in Win7 is different and inferior to the one I got when I long ago created the XP shortcut which I am so used to.

There must be some way to save the original gif into win7 and then call it up when I "Change Icon" in Win7?

They are called Favicons... Maybe that'll help in your google search.

Course, you can right click on the short cuts and select Change Icon and change to almost anything you have in your stash.
