I recently installed Acronis True Image 9.0 on my computer. After doing this, my CD-CDR-W drive changed from D: to J: for no apparent reason. Is there a way to get it back to be the D: drive?

I have a E-Machines computer running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pak 2 installed.

    dmk1941... Welcome to Windows BBS!

To change the drive letter back... right-click 'MyComputer', then select 'Manage', then listed in the 'tree view' (on the left) select 'Disk Management'. Then right-click on the drive you want to change and select 'Change drive letters and paths'. Click the 'change' button and this will give you the list of available drive letters.
TruImage can install a 'recovery' partition as a safe place to store your disk images. This may be what triggered the drive letter change in the first place. I use TruImage but I don't use this feature so I'm not sure if that partition would show in 'Disk Management' or not. If 'D' is not an available drive letter in the list this is probably what happened. If you have a problem post back.

    Mr. B

Thanks. That worked like a charm. You're a life saver. It wasn't sometthing that was critical, but sure was annoying. All is well again on my computer.
