Hi All, I urgently need your expertice to advice me on how I can switch the RPC on my win server 2003 from Automatic to Manual.
As it is now, I cannot switch to either Manual, Disable and I cannot Start or Stop the RPC as all the mentioned buttons are greyed out. I need to stop this service to be able to carry out some administrations on the server urgently.

RPC service start, stop and restart is always greyed out.

It's not a service you can stop and start. If it was stopped windows would not function.

As tashman847 pointed out, windows would not function without rpc. Most windows services rely on rpc to communicate with each other.
Here is a link explaining RPC.
