Hi all, Glad to see the BBS back up in 2002.

My Search button on the START menu will open the choices : For Files, On the Internet, etc. However, when I select any of them, nothing happens. There is no new explorer window opening to perform the search. If I open an Explorer Window to display folders, and then use the Search button on the folder toolbar, that works fine. It worked fine two days ago, before I started uninstalling some old W97 Excel and Word viewers. The viewers are gone but this problem was born. Installation: W2000Pro and SP2; IE 5.50.

    Thanks,

cunningjim--In WIN98 we have the Repair Internet Explorer function. Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs|scroll to Microsoft Internet Explorer| highlight|click Add/Remove. In the next screen you will have three choices. Check Repair IE, click OK.
Don't know if this applies to WIN2000.

    Lost Search function--solved

Well, I didn't really solve this, except by re-installing Win2000 Pro.
I had other symptoms that showed up : script errors, when using the Control Panel, and the Admin Tools. Re-loading W2K from the original CD solved my problem. I had tried the "repair IE" and I also tried upgrading to the latest 5.5 release ... no luck then.

    Thanks for your response,
    Jim C :p
