My OS is XP-Home. I don't know why suddenly an icon appeared on my desktop screen, the "properties" is "Microsoft Pinyin IME ". Please tell me how to get rid of this icon. I have tried many ways but failed. Thanks.

Microsoft Pinyin IME (or MSPY) is simplified Chinese language support for the English language version of Windows (and maybe other language versions).

Did you recently load that language/character set?

More detail of how you load it and what it does Here

Not knowing a darn thing about this but taking a shot....Is it possible this is the "Language Bar" component of the application? Details in the simplest step by step I could find:
    http://onlinelearning.lingnet.org/chinese/lesson0/playback_xp.htm

Boils down to a preference setting found in the control panel icon. You can either show it or not based on setting.

As far as I can tell, this is the only icon related to this application that might be on the desktop unless you've have downloaded the zip (or exe) to the desktop. If that's the case I don't know why, either after or before extracting and installing, you wouldn't be allowed to do what ever you wanted with the downloaded zip (exe). "Icon" isn't very descriptive. What type of file is this? What errors or warnings are you getting when trying to work with this file?
