Hi everyone. I would appreciate if someone could tell me how I can erase the 'search history' in the IE. I am using windows xp home edition. What I mean is the search queries that we put on yahoo or google... each time I want to put a new search topic, the older ones appear as help... good but what if I want to erase all of the past queries........
I tried clearing the history from internet options, deleted temp internet files... didn't work.
    any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Hey dmad, welcome to the BBS.

In the Google toolbar, click the down arrow and select- clear search history. I don't know about Yahoo. In IE in options select- clear history.

    I tried all that.......
It does clear the google "toolbar" search history but not the search history on the site....
clearing history clears the history of websites in the address bar... but I'm talking about the search bar on these websites like yahoo & google........

In Internet Explorer click on Tools>Internet Options>Content>Autocomlete and then click on the "Clear Forms" button. This should clear out auto entries.

Also in Internet Options on the General Tab click on the "Clear History" button.

Then right click on your task bar, Click on Properties>Start Menu Programs tab then click on the "Clear" button in the Documents menu section.

The above should?? clear out the auto entries.

    Post back if this works.

Glad that worked for you and thanks for posting back.

I am not being bothered by the pop-ups, probably because I am on dial-up. Maybe some other BBS member can give you some guidance. You could also try downloading Spybot - Search and Destroy to eliminate spyware in case that is the problem.

You can download a self installing version of Spybot from: Here

Click on the Version 1.1 Rel 3 with installer.

When downloaded double click the "spybotsd11r3.exe" file to install. Once installed open the program click on the "Online" button then click on "Search for updates" at the top of the screen, select the updates then click on the download button. This will download the updates for Spybot. You do not need to download all the language updates. Then run the program a couple of times to remove any spyware. Have a look at what it is suggesting to remove and uncheck anything that you might think should not be checked for removal. Anything with a red ! mark is usually safe to remove. Green ! are optional. Spybot makes a recovery backup so if you accidently remove something your system needs, you can put it back.

    Good luck.:)

Messenger Service Window That Contains an Internet Advertisement Appears
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330904

Note that this has nothing to do with Windows (MSN) Messenger. It is the "net send" used over LAN's and the gui programs that use net send.

The Messenger Service can be disabled if you don't use it.
