Just set up my wireless network. It works perfectly. No encryption set up on it yet. House guest last weekend saw the network right away and we checked the little box that said "connect even tho it isn't secure" and, presto, it was connected.

Now another friend is visiting with her sharp computer. The computer says that there is no wireless network available.
She has never used her wireless connection. Is there some basic setting that needs to be done? I don't get the little box with the checkmark that I got on the computer last week. Does something need to be set up on her computer?

    Thanks

Yup. Her network settings and the TCP/IP piece (assuming you are using that protocol and you probably are) will need to match your existing.

Okay ... forgot that her antenna (built-in wireless) needed to be enabled ... the sharp computer requires that you press function, then F1. Computers are shipping with the light off so as to conserve battery function.

    Live and learn.

    thanks

She had the "g" technology which worked perfectly with my linksys g access point. Wireless has really improved ... I tried it about 4 or 5 years ago and it was slow slow slow. Now it is really great. I have 2.5 phones and they don't seem to interfere at all.
