For the last two days when I go into hotmail using IE I get as far as the page that shows all in my inbox but then my computer freezes up. I can not click on anything nor can I close the page. I end up having to hit control alt delete to close it. Is this a problem on my end or is it IE? Can someone please help me? :(

Maybe a repair of IE is in order but without knowing your OS, it's impossible to suggest specifics for doing the repair.

    Certainly try dumping your TIFs.

A check for spyware and removal of any found is always a good idea. Ad-aware & Spybot (see quicklinks in my signature) are good utilities to use.

I have done all of that. Ran ad aware and spy sweeper. Dumped cookies and temp files. Restarted and everything.

I have done all of that

Does 'all of that' include a repair of IE?

What IE version are you running?

One other thing you might try is to run HijackThis and look for an 016 entry that is labled hotmail mail class handler and delete it. BTW, is this a hotmail account or an msn account......@hotmail.com or @msn.com? I have both and have been unable to access the msn account for days.

I am using ....@hotmail.com not msn. However I have been having trouble getting into msn games also. Smetimes have to try 4 times before it works. As for the hotmail account I can log in and sometimes only get to the first page where it shows me new messages etc. Sometimes I can get past that to the inbox but then cant open any mail. I can get to all of it using netscape however have never been able to send mail through it. I guess that shows me it is IE . Should I still try hijack this?? Or is it possibly not my pc?? But the site itself?

IE6 repair for any OS other than XP is fairly simple. Go to add/remove programs, select IE, and one of the options is to do a repair. Pick that and let it run.

    Problem with Hotmail

I've had the exact same problems with hotmail. It all started last Monday, and it happened on my laptop and on my desktop at home. Very strange stuff! I have Spybot Search & Destroy, Spyware Blaster, SysClean, Stinger, and McAfee. I've run all these to no avail. I've also tried restoring my entire computer to a day before this all started happening. The only thing I have not tried is repairing IE.

This is all very strange because I was at my parents' house for Thanksgiving and their computer had no problems with IE.

    Repair didn't help

Ok, I tried repairing IE and that didn't help. Is there anything else anyone suggests? I'm getting ready to take law school finals and I don't have time to deal with this (I'm sure neither does anyone else for that matter)! :(

    Thanks!!!
