My friend is trying to run Outlook express with Hotmail email address and it insists on having its own set of folders - inbox, outbox, sent etc and will not let you delete from the folders. it copies when you move mail about and then just shuts down. Anyone else solved this problem? Thank you for any help on this subject

Guess what. Thats a feature, not a but. Since MS owns both OE and Hotmail, your friend cant do anything about it. Hotmail is not a true webmail service, so you can't configure the normal way. I would have your friend delete the hotmail account. Reboot, and reconfigure it. You cant get rid of the hotmail folders. I run the same thing. I created a junk folder within the OE folders, and any mail I want to save, I just copy to that folder, then delete it from hotmail. BTW, hotmail was having problems over the last few days, deleted mail came back, etc...
