    Hi all!
Does anyone know of a spyware free alternative to hotbar? (Besides incredimail?)
If I have to remove this lovely gem from one more computer this week.....I'm going to write someone hate mail!

It's hard enough to explain to my clients what spyware is.... worse still, when I haven't got an alternative to offer them for animated emails that they all seem to like so much.

    Anyone run across something similar?

Trying to put yourself out of business? ;)
Educate the customer. Explain that fancy **** like that is a waste of bandwidth, and the more they use the more everyone ends up paying. If everyone stopped using pictures, fancy fonts, and backgrounds in email, there would be an excess of bandwidth for everyone (not to mention reduction in spam and trojan spreading!).
Get them to read this: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

Reboot...... you ARE my hero! :)
Ohhhh. I'm all about education.

    I try. Honestly I do.

But ultimately, you get the blank, lost stares, with the dreaded question looming on their lips, "Yeah.... but I want those animations! ". ARGH!!!!!!!!

I'm off like a happy duck to peruse the links you so kindly provided. Thanks ever so much again.

Uhhh Reboot? There's a great irony in the fact that the first one listed under "Browser Toolbars ".......is Hotbar  . Is there a way to sift through which, if any of these, are NOT spyware?

Ahhhh reboot. You're too good to me. And for that, I've got a huge surge of guilt, for having someone else do the homework for me.

Thank you so much for the last links. I will indeed check against them.

    Daizy -
As an alternative to Hotbar, there is Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 Toolbar Wallpaper from PCMag.

Okay, so Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 Toolbar Wallpaper adds no functionality whatsoever to Internet Explorer, but this little (174K) download does make the browser look nicer, and IE could stand sprucing up. When you install the add-in (which works fine with IE6), a button appears on your browser toolbar. Press it and choose from ten whimsical wallpapers to enliven that toolbar.
In addition there are oodles of sites on the Net with additional photos.

    Hiya Barbara - Ann
Thank you so much for keeping an eye out for something for me to suggest to these people. Unfortunately, it's not the browser wallpaper that they want...it's all the animations in the email.
I searched until my eyes wore out yesterday. Short of incredimail (which I've got nothing kind to say about either)...I've come up empty handed.
Again...thank you hugely for looking. I truly appreciate it.

WOW! Didn't realize there were that many programs that have spyware!!!!! Unreal!!! Now I wonder why my AdAware insists on tagging my WildTangent as spyware......I don't use it, but it was loaded on my machine when I bought it. Interesting.

Graphics in e-mails....LOVE'M! I know....I know.....Too much bandwidth. But, can't we have just a few, tiny, little pictures....????...???? :(

    :)

    Hiya Panda
Yes, It's staggering how many of these programs are actually spyware...isn't it?
I'm with you, on the animations. I love adding them to email as well. Though, I just keep a folder of them, and add in, as I go. I can see why hotbar and incredimail caught on. I just wish there were alternatives.

I agree. I tried Incredimail and didn't like the fact that I couldn't incorporate my created folders into the program. I liked the other features, but didn't do me any good if I couldn't use all the features I liked in OE. Maybe someone will see this post and create a program just for us BANDWIDTH HOGS......:D

    :)
