Am seeing horizontal black lines at top of the screen no matter what page is selected. Also have vertical red, green, and blue lines at right edge of screen. Horizontal lines obscure minimize, maximize, etc. options at top of any page. No problem until yesterday. Not sure if it is related but problem first appeared after I attempted to update Adobe Reader. Have uninstalled that and even have done a system restore to what I know to be a properly working state but no change in lines appearing. What do I do to remove these lines?

I'm a bit confused? Are you running Win. 7 Pro. or Win. 10 Pro. Does your Radeon graphics adapter have the switchable graphics feature.

LJ I think he's using a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC which was running W7 and he's upgraded to W10 and now requires new W10 compatible drivers.
Any unstable upgrade to W10 needs driver revision from PC Manufacturer as advised by MS. ;) Neil.

Thanks for your attempts to help.

As I stated in my original message, I am running IE 10; Windows 7 Professional (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601). I have NOT upgraded my operating system to Windows 10. My operating system is still Windows 7 Pro but I AM using Internet Explorer 10 as my web browser. I have been using that combination without problem for a very long time. The lines started appearing "out of the blue ". The only change I had made was to update Adobe Reader. When the lines appeared, I uninstalled Adobe Reader and eventually did a system restore back to a date I know to be a date when my system was functioning properly. However, the lines still appear. I did a screen capture with the intent of posting it but strangely the lines do not appear on the image.

That kinda makes me think it is the monitor/display.

I would connect an external monitor and see if the problem appears there too. If it does, then you know the problem is with the notebooks graphics solution. If no lines, you know the problem is with the notebook's monitor.

Hate to think the monitor is the problem. But more and more it's looking like that. Don't have another monitor to connect to so am not able to make that test. Will do what I can to eliminate graphics driver. Then see what happens.

Note that most TVs support computer input. I would try that then. You really need to determine if it is the notebook (motherboard and integrated graphics) or the notebook monitor. Notebook monitors can be replaced much cheaper than notebook motherboards.

Thanks Bill. Will try to use TV as alternate monitor as soon as I can figure out how to do that. I appreciate the suggestion.

I need your product number P/N(example WF536AV.) If the computer was manufactured in 2010 you may need to remove the battery and check in the battery compartment for the P/N. If you check my System Specs I also have a HP Pavilion DV6t SE 3000 (CTO).

LM720AV HP PAVILION DV6T-6100 CTO QUAD EDITION. Is there anyway you can find an external display to see if your laptop display may be the problem. The procedure for changing the laptop display is simple. First you need to make sure it's the display screen that is the culprit. Watch the video: ScreenSurgeons

Thanks lj. Will try your suggestion. Cannot do that right now as I am staying at a cottage in the Adirondack region of upstate ny. Gonna be away from home for another 3 weeks. Will have to work on my problem more when I get home. BTW...my apologies to everyone. I realize that I posted the thread in the Windows 10 area when I should have posted it in the Windows 7 area since 7 is my operating system. When I originally posted my problem, for some reason I was thinking IE 10 instead of the operating system Windows 10. thanks to all who have taken the time to try to help.

Thanks to all who have replied. It appears that I'm going to have to replace the screen. The problem with lines appearing is becoming more troublesome. When I get home, I will see about replacing the screen. For now however, I will consider the problem resolved and close the thread.

    UPDATE as of 2/21/2016:

Determined that screen was indeed in needing of replacement. Went to Screen Surgeons at http://screensurgeons.mybigcommerce.com/ Purchased replacement panel. Process went exactly as Screen Surgeons promised. Followed instructions provided in video on the website. Replacement work went smoothly. Panel replaced. All works well. Problem solved. Thanks to all who tried to help and especially to lJ50 for info about Screen Surgeons website.
