    Interesting read.
It's not as bad as it warns though because all one needs to do is press the reset button on the router or power the modem off and on to get back to normal.

The problem here Tony lies in the fact that so many people don't have the notion to change default passwords on their routers. By the time they know about what's going on, the damage could be disastrous.

Oh, yes, I know, and I agree.
Esp the wifi routers. I've done Kismet scans in many areas for wlans. The largest wlan in the world has an essid called Linksys! And over 50% are default SSIDs and default passwords.

You'd think that the router manufactures would force a password to be created by the user now. After all, many now come with those "no-brainer" setup cds. It would be very easy to incorporate password setup as part the router setup. Perhaps this new exploit is a good thing.

    Largest Lan in the world

    That is pretty good.
Largest WAN in the world is SSID Linksys.
    The article is interesting .
However with most people this exploit is beyond overkill.
60 % of routers are open. Most of these are set at default setting.
85 % of routers sold are said to be Linksys and D-Links brands.
    Not a lot of originality.
A router that is set to ssid default or linksys wide open at channel 6 is screaming out its settings and vulnerability to anyone with a tiny bit of knowledge and understanding of wi fi.
if someone has the time and trouble to break into a 64 bit wep enabled router I think that this is the least of the troubles the victim will have.
