Home Page Hijacked - youspeltitwrong.com

My home page gets hijacked when I first turn the computer on. It is a Dell Desktop running 32 Bit Vista. The home page opens to xxx.youspeltitwrong.com although I use something different for my default home page. After it displays once, I can select my home page button and it goes to the correct page. It only does this once while the computer is on. I suspect this came from eBay - not sure though. Any help is much appreciated. Below is my hijack file. If there are additional lines you recommend to be removed (I know Dell adds a ton of garbage) please let me know which ones should be deleted. Thanks in advance.

Your log is clean, and there's nothing to suggest that IE would be redirected. Does it happen the first time you open IE after logon? Only then? Try running a HijackThis scan upon logon, before doing anything else, to check for differences.
What method are you using to open IE ........ quick launch, desktop icon, start menu or all programs menu? Check the properties of whichever shortcut you use ...... look at the Target value.

 

Thank you - I just realized that the Internet Explorer browser loads itself at startup. I never click on the icon. Here is the HiJack done at start up (right after the browser opened on its own)

That's odd ......... I don't see a startup entry for it. Guess we'll have to try hunting it down.

Start HijackThis and go to the Misc Tools section. If the startup menu is bypassed and it goes straight to the scan window, click Config, then Misc Tools. In the StartupList section, check both boxes then click Generate StartupList log. Post the contents of that log.

ARGH! - I have Norton Antivirus 360 - how did it miss these?

 

Ok, after running Hijack again as you requested the culprit webpage does not load.

Do I still have to deal with those viruses?

Glad we got it. Delete that file!

Suggest you run an online virus scan, such as Panda ActiveScan.

Anything new can get by. Someone has to contract a new virus, then get it submitted before the AV vendors can add the file to their definitions. Hard to say how/where you got it, but a look through your browsing history may give a clue.

I need to find an online virus checking site that supports Vista, Panda does not.

Not sure if it supports Vista either. If not, let me know and I'll do some checking for one.

Yes, delete that file. It's not a system file.

 

Panda now has Nanoscan online scanner, which they claim is fully Vista compatible.

If that scanner reports anything as infected, see if there's an option to save a log (I won't have time to give it a test run it till this evening) and do so, then post the results here.

 

Guess I did have enough time ......... scan took 38 seconds, and I have over 250 GB of data on this comp. Hmmm .... not sure I want to run the TotalScan. Doesn't appear it's going to allow me to pick and choose what to scan. If you run it, please let me know if it's configurable at all.

 

I just got the same virus. I got it after installing the Nakido Flag plugin from Nakido.com

Hopefully deleting chkdsk32_.exe will work for me too.
