Trying to home network a laptop (XP Home) to a PC (XP Pro) both with all updates.

Laptop is wireless and PC is not.

    Using Linksys WRT54G.

Both computers are sharing a DSL connection to the internet and ICS is working fine.

The PC is able to access all of the laptop's files and use them.

The laptop can see the network (called "Home ") and the PC computer name under it.

Clicking on the PC computer name gives an access denied message "\\Fred-C-Dobbs is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions." (I am the admin)

"Logon failure:the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer. "

Can someone please help me to fix this problem? I have been trying to fix it for 5 days. Please understand that I don't speak network jargon.

    Thanks

As a side note I tried to send a thumbnail and the network resets when I try to upload. (I am a lifetime member and have done it before)

O.K., I'll answer my own question.

When installing a network for file and printer sharing, first disconnect from the internet, UNinstall any 3rd party firewalls, UNinstall anti virus program. Get the file and print sharing going then reinstall your firewall and AV program. Then you can connect back to the internet and take care of internet connection sharing.
