    3 machine home network.
    Belkin wireless/wired router.
Machine A XP Pro SP3 Desktop "“ main box
Machine B XP Pro SP3 Desktop "“ quasi server
Machine C Win7 Laptop wireless connection. Laptop has no problems connecting to any machine on the network.

Machine A connects to B no problem, transfers files, alters files, saves files to a RAID1 array, and other drives on B. After initial Windows system log on, no password required.

Machine B requires an initial Windows system password log on, it sees the entire network, will connect to laptop - no problem, when attempts to connect to machine A are made , a Windows 2 line password box with a "˜head shaped’ silhouette pops up. Put in User name, or Administrator and the correct password, press enter and the box clears itself and pops back up. This time it will show "˜\\SkisIntel\Ski’ as the user (info is correct). Re-enter known password and same problem surfaces. No error messages arise.

I wouldn’t bother to use passwords at all, except Win don’t care much for networking without them. It’s just me and the wife "“ kids all grown up and gone (there IS a God!) All permissions are set to full access, firewall off on all machines, in fact both machines are set up the same, and all drives are shared. All software was installed by me.

Why can’t I get to my main box from my "˜server’? I access both machines using a 2 port KVM so it's really not a problem, just very annoying.....

    Thanx for any help.

Create an 2nd account on A with the same user name and password as B.

XP Pro is funny about that. I'm surprised it's working the other way around.

Scott - Thank you for the reply. I did as you said, had to create a new user on machine B as the machine names for both A & B are the same (could be the problem??). Doesn't ask for a password, now an error box comes up and says 'you don't have permission.....' and 'not enough resources available.....'
Maybe I'l overinstall Win on B and change the inherent user/owners name.....
