    I have a network consisting of 4 PC's connected to a Siemens SE567 Gateway, and I would like to connect a laptop using its wireless capabilities.

    I would assume I would have to obtain a wireless router of some sort but that is where my reservoir of knowledge becomes depleted and I certainly would appreciate if someone could either explain how these should be connected, or point me in the right direction to get this information.

    Many Thanks.

    Don't get a wifi router, get an access point only. It's like a wifi router w/out the routing capabilities. It connects to a port on your gateway. I have an 8 port linksys router and a netgear access point connected to it. This is the easiest way to get wifi on your existing network.

    The Gigaset SE567 Gateway combines an ADSL 2+ Modem, four 10/100 Ethernet ports, one which may be configured as a WAN interface, as well as 802.11b/g WiFi capabilities with an Intellisteer smart antenna in a single product. The Gateway also includes powerful security features such as a configurable ICSA-compliant stateful inspection firewall with Denial of Service (DoS) protection. A robust QoS subsystem incorporating separate QoS Classifier, Queue Manager and Scheduler helps provide a high quality subscriber experience under the most demanding traffic situations.

    Thank you for the replies.

    As tmarks says - "The Gateway also includes powerful security features such as a configurable ICSA-compliant stateful inspection firewall with Denial of Service (DoS) protection. A robust QoS subsystem incorporating separate QoS Classifier, Queue Manager and Scheduler helps provide a high quality subscriber experience under the most demanding traffic situations. ", but this is 'Greek' to me, so for the benefit of any other 'Experts' like me who may encounter similar problems, the following may be of assistance.

    When I could not get the wireless internet connection to work I thought it may be that the Gateway could only be used either wired or wirelessly, but not both, which turned out to be incorrect.

    After considerable other trial and error, nothing of which helped, I found some entries in the Device Manager indicating that there was a problem of some sort with something called 'isatap' under the Network Adapters section. These items were not installed and not being connected to the internet I could not update the drivers so I uninstalled them, thinking that the system would detect and re-install them if I rebooted. Big mistake, because when I re-booted all I got was a 'Blue Screen'.

    I now realize that to correct this I should have booted into 'Safe Mode' and used the system to detect this hardware, but after all sorts of other attempts to get the PC working again, I finally managed to restore the Registry and this worked.

    For some reason, and without doing anything I had not already tried, when I again tried connecting, I received a message that the Network I was attempting to connect to was not secure, which I paid no attention to because my main objective was to CONNECT, and I now have internet access with an insecure connection and I have no idea how to correct it.

    Although I would like to rectify this, it really is of little concern to me because the only personal information I have on this unit are Credit Card Numbers, together with the appropriate Pin Numbers, Local Bank Account details and details of 3 Swiss Bank Accounts, together with the necessary access codes, etc, everything of which all belong to my ex-husband. :D

    Yikes...ouch!
    Please delete them!

    To setup security for wifi you must:
    1. login to the router via the Web browser
    address = 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1
    2. find section for wifi security.
    3. setup WEP encryption or WPA2 encryption.
    consult the manual for instructions.
