    Welcome to WindowsBBS xsharlenex.:)

Right click the desktop and choose new>folder. Name it HJT. Cut and paste HijackThis.exe to that folder. That will keep backup files from scattering all over the desktop.

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

The following entry is a system tray icon for the Virtual Assistant from AT&T Broadband, used to communicate internet problems via the network rather than telephone. Available via desktop shortcut or Start -> Programs and is not required at startup. Optional fix.

    Reboot to safe mode.

Now in safe mode, you will need to show hidden files and folders.

Open C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete the following files if present. Then search the drive for same and delete any found. Also search for Adstartup.* and adupdmanager.* and delete all.

    ADStartUP.exe
    AdUpdater.exe
    adupdmanager.xml
    automove.exe
    data.xml
    IEEnhancer.dll
    retpdat32.xml
    sp32.xml
    swin32.dll

Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all usernames.
Open My Computer and right click Local Disk C:, then choose disk cleanup. Check all except compress old files and OK.

Reboot back into windows and scan your PC with RAV. Check the box to autoclean. If any files are infected and uncleanable, click the report button then copy and paste it here, along with a new HijackThis log.

I done what you said but I had some problems. Could you maybe help me out again?

I couldn't find these files on my computer:
    <b>Adstartup.*
    AdStartUP.exe
    IEEnhancer.dll
    swin32.dll</b>

When deleting things from the Temp files do you delete the actual folders, or just the files? I didn't delete the folders just incase.

I couldn't find that Disk Cleanup you said to do. I went into My Computer and Local Disk C and right clicked but I couldn't find the disk cleanup option.

I've still to do the Virus Check but I wanted to wait until I had finished deleting all the other files.

    Thanks :)

Sorry about that. I didn't notice the error when I copy/pasted the instructions for disk cleanup.

Delete everything in the temp folder.
Open My Computer, right click Local disk C: and choose properties, then disk cleanup. Check all boxes except compress old files and OK.

Do the RAV scan and paste the report along with a new HijackThis log.

For dealing with the blaster infected files, try This tool from Symantec and also make sure your security patches are up to date. That one can't even see your PC if you have the appropriate (and fairly old) MS03-026 patch loaded.

There are quite a few other security patches you need if you don't have them already. Otherwise, you are just inviting these critters to take up residence on your PC. Here then click on Downloads & Updates and let Microsoft scan your PC. Install all the critical patches. Others are optional.
