Suddenly today my PC has randomly started poping up the dialup box even though no modem is connected to this PC. This only occurs using Internet Explorer not Firebird the main browser I use.

Can someone in the know check my highjack this log to see if there is any unusual entries please?

    kiwicolin,

I don't see anything bad, but others will be looking too. Meanwhile, here are some thoughts.

Go to control panel > internet properties > connections tab and make sure "Never dial a connection" is chosen.

Then, under the advanced tab, turn off anything that could possibly dial a phone, such as "Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates ".

Scan again and fix these with all other windows closed.

On the connections tab>LAN settings, toggle the automatically detect settings box, OKing your way out each time.

    Thanks Guys,

Don't know what entry was causing the problem but no more dial up box.

The other settings were already set for never dial a connection and auto detect so don't know how they were being bypassed but all's well now.

    Thanks for the help

    :)
