There are several things to fix, but need some precleaning first.
Please download, install and immediately update Ad-aware. Configure for a custom full scan, run and delete all it finds. Download CWShredder, open and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.
Uninstall TV MEDIA in add/remove programs.
    Reboot and post another log.

Updated AdAware and Spybot have been run. Don't know about CW Shredder.

Do this in the order given.
Scan again and place a check next to the following entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix. The Yahoo start page entry is optional.

    Open C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB and rename realsched.exe to realsched.old

Open C:\WINDOWS and delete the following files if present.

    sysupd.exe
    sysupd.pf
    dpusys.ini
    fwxmqs.exe
    ALCHEM.exe

Open C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and delete the following file if present.

    INETP60.DLL

Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all usernames.
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
Open My Computer and right click Local Disk C:, then choose disk cleanup. Check all except compress old files and OK.
Uncheck the /safeboot box in msconfig and ok to reboot.

Back in Windows, run online virus scans with both RAV and Housecall. Check the boxes to autoclean. If anything is found and uncleanable, get a report.

Run another HijackThis scan and post the log.

I'm compiling a list of files associated with all the different nasties on that PC. There's ALOT! If you care to try going thru it and deleting them, let me know. When I get it done I can either post it, PM it or mail it.

How do I know what you're suggested won't ***** up the pc even more?
Sorry to be so skeptical, but I've gotten bad advice in the past and don't want to go there again. BTW, NAV is the antivirus program on this pc. Will that do?

I guess you don't. Wait for someone else to respond. Or you could look thru some of my other posts and see that I've recommended the same type of fix repeatedly to other members. I didn't take the time to research your log carefully and type out a detailed post like that to foul up the machine more. Feel free to disregard anything I suggest. ;)

Eleanor316, you can trust Noahdfear's advice. Look to the left here, and you will see that I am on the staff.
I looked through his advice and agree with him.
Norton will do, you paid for it, use it, update it regularly. The suggestion to do an online scan is a sound idea for a second opinion, your Norton can be compromised. Norton is a popular product and virus creators love to attack it, and according to the HJT log, a couple of things got past it.
    For example, this one.
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ALCHEM] C:\WINDOWS\ALCHEM.exe
Norton has a webpage on it.
    http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.clickalchemy.html
Seems your Norton [Symnatec product] was not up to date.

No. Which is why I recommended online scans. Just as Spybot alone or Ad-aware alone is not enough. One program may pick up on something another does not. One of the first things many viruses do is try to hide themselves from your onboard scanner. In any event, it will not hurt to do an online scan.

Thanks for the confirmation. I will try this fix as soon as I can get back into the not-for-profit agency where I volunteer. Try as I may to keep their pcs up to date and functioning well, obviously there was a slip up somewhere.

I'll let you know the result of applying the fix. Thanks again.

Sorry I didn't post my progress; haven't been back to that machine yet so no progress. However my own pc has been hijacked and I tried to post the log from HijackThis and was told it had too many characters. Don't know how I can shorten the log unless I post it in 2 separate threads. What can you suggest?

    Hi Eleanor316

run hijackthis then scan and save a new log then right click inside the txt document select and copy about half of the log, Post it in one reply then the other half in another reply..

Also what version of SpyBot is it you have 1.2 or 1.3 ?

Download then run cwsredder as dave suggested,, there is a link in his signature to it :)

Edit whoops if you need to post a log from another PC please start a new topic. thanks

    Great Job Dave :)
