I have a concern regarding Windows Vista Hidden Files and Folders. I have got some documents which is set as hidden be it files or folders. But whenever my mouse points over it, the pop up info box shows that the size is 0 byte regardless of if I have had hidden files shown or not in the Tools >> folder options >> View settings.

Is it because of some settings or is it the problem of Windows Vista? In XP, if a folder contains hidden files in it, it will show the total size even if hidden files is shown or not shown in the folder options.

This may cause me to accidentally delete some important documents in the future if I am not carefull. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks In Advance ! :)

    Well then be carefull;)

Instead of the mouse over - what happens when you right click on select Properties?

If I were to right click and select properties, the total file size will be indicated as per normal. But I really hope there is a solution to it, it is such a simple and useful command interface and Vista atually doesnt come with it?

Cant possibly right click or go into every folder to see if there is any hidden files in it. Will be wasting lots of time. :)

What is the reasoning behind marking files or folders as hidden? If you undid that, wouldn't the problem go away?

Problem now is hidden files will be shown as 0 bytes instead of the actual size when I mouse over it.

So I am looking for a solution for it so that it will be like XP where by the size will be shown when I mouse over a folder with hidden files. It will make life alot easier and convenient.

there is no solution. keep them hidden like they are supposed to be.

The reasoning why it's like that is beyond the scope of this BBS.

The main question here is: did you create those files, and hid them, or you have no idea what they're?
