Hi!!!

I have been using/learning computers since 1992. I went back to college to learn basics and got caught up in the whole thing! I started on a BB online, worked up to IRC, was an admin on a couple IRC servers. I started learning from my friends in Israel, Germany and Sweden. Then I figured research was my friend. I researched for everything: Hardware, software, you name it.

I started to upgrade/repair/build systems. Then had to know a thing or two about software. So, while I am not a expert, I know a thing or three! I had to stop doing other peoples' systems because I went blind in my left eye and it is a real chore to see all that little stuff in desktops and REAL hard to do laptops.

I live in MO with Ed. We have 6 acres on the Lake of the Ozarks. I have three grown and gone daughters and 4 grandkids, all teenagers. The oldest one and the youngest one first learned computering from me. But all of them are on my phone every time they 'do something' that isn't right! LOL

I am always learning new things and renewing some old stuff I long forgot. It is always the simple, Computers 101, stuff that makes me nuts!

I just got a new-to-me Dell. The way I like my systems to start out: Only the OS installed. No programs I will never use!! This one came to me with my beloved 2000Pro, which, IMHO, is the second most stable Windows OS. 98SE being the first. My youngest daughter just bought a brand new laptop, Acer, with Windows Vista and I can't post here how I feel about that OS.

So, this is me. I can't put URLs in here, but I have a MySpace for anyone who would like to know more about me. Oh, I think I can put that URL in my profile.

Hi Again!

Yeah, well grown+gone IS an oxymoron! My oldest, Jenese, is 44 and she is in Montana for the time being. You can catch her in movies and on TV. The next one, Jenette, lives about 18 mi from here. Then there is Jennifer, 38. She lives about 5 mi away, owns her own house, and still calls me 10 times a day. The only solice I have in that is that her oldest daughter will be 17 in a few days and she is JUST like her mother! That saying about "I hope you have a daughter JUST like you" is true!

Looks like I am going to have to brush up on my BBS code, eh?

Thought I would throw this in here: I am a Senior Member on another tech forum. I love to help people and if I don't know the answer I will do the research to find it. Too bad when I was growing up technology wasn't as it is today. I could have been fairly dangerous!
