I don't know what is going on!! I'm trying to use my stamps.com and it cannot detect my connection (I have cable modem) and then I tried another software app, thinking it was stamps.com and the same thing!! Now, some apps do work... but any file sharing programs don't work and I can't get this one to work and their support isn't helping me much, I have to get these packages out!

Any help would be appreciated!! :)

Try unplugging your modem and then plugging it back in. That'll reset it to its factory condition. If that don't work, call your ISP and howl. You aint payin $50/month to put up with this ****.

Kittie Cat - as a guess, mine would be that their DNS cache (or yours if you are running 2K/XP) got some bad entries.

Your ISP will probably maintain a cache of DNS entries (they translate the human words we like to numeric addresses that computers like) to speed up operations.

If one or more of those become corrupted, you won't be able to get to the site because the ISP is mis-directing you.

Next time you see a situation where you can get to some sites and not to others, call support for the ISP and report the specific sites AND ask them to flush the cache entry for those sites. They will be automatically re-cached the next time any user goes to the site. I suspect this may be what they did. It is about a 30 second job for a tech at the ISP.

Also, if you use 2K or XP, you will need to do the same thing for yourself. Close any browser windows and then open a DOS window and put in
    ipconfig /flushdns <and press ENTER>

If that doesn't do it, locate a file on your computer named hosts (no extension/ending) and rename it to hosts.old. A new (and hopefully good) one will be created the next time you boot up (or start the browser - not positive on this one).

All systems can do much the same thing by removing temporary internet files. Not nearly as complete but may help.
