Does a menu of any type pop up if you click on it with your right mouse button? If so, that should give you a hint. If there is a menu and you're still not sure what it is post back with the contents of the menu.

I right clicked as you told me and it showed three option, one of them is to hide the icon. I chose to hide the icon and it disappeared an I don't know how to get it back.

    Hi wanderer

Immediately prior to seeing the icon in systray, did you install a new program, were you in a screen view that required you to input a checkmark or respond "yes" to any question(s)?

    Help

I think I might have clicked on yes, but How do I retreive it, because I chose to hide the icon and now I can't get it back. Also does anyone know anything about emulators. I recently downloaded an arcade emulator but I can't seem to run any games. I downloaded a playstation emulator but when I extracted the files it showed a bunch of folders with different names to them. And if I do download the emulator ,where do I get the games for it? I am totally confused about this, Because I like games. Can someone please help me out so I can play these arcade games.

    Hi Wanderer,

    Welcome to the board.

The icons in what M$ calls the Notification Area, and everyone else calls the Systray (short for System Tray), represent programs loaded at startup, either from your startup folder, from the registry, or because you've told the program that you want it to run when your computer starts.

Click on Start, then Run, and type msconfig to open the System Configuration Utility. The Startup tab will list everything that runs at startup, and you should be able to figure out what program your hidden icon represents.

Look in My Programs (it may be All Programs ... my system is configured differently) for the program and see if you can open it. Once open, look for a menu listing for Options, Preferences, or Configuration. You may find a checkbox which will allow you to display the icon once again.

    Good luck!
