Help please

    Hi a friend of mine is trying to put a computer he built together but he cant get past the "post" screen

    Gigabte motherboard GA7N400Pro2
    CPU AMD 2.6XP
    SAMSUNG 80GB 8MB SATA/150 7200RPM HDD

    It basically doesn’t detect or it detects the hard drive but as something else (a port or something) and it doesn’t get past that screen

    Any suggestions please?

    Did you try to boot from a floppy? Make sure that the BIOS is set to boot from the floppy drive first. If it reads the floppy and can't find the hard drive I would check to the cables to the drive. If this is a new hard drive did the person fdisk and format the drive?
