On my old computer (with Microsoft ME) I could log into my Credit Union and get my account information and do my banking on line.

Now I got this new computer with Microsoft XP.

I tried to check my Credit Union account.
    Got to the system ok.
However, I got a message that says:

"You must have cookies enabled "

    Help

Do not understand - what is this cookie business?

Or, How can I get my new computer to do the things
    that my old computer did?

Or, how do I enable cookies?

    Appreciate your help - thanks.

Thank goodness, another Beginner beside myself!! Open your Browser and from the top select TOOLS and INTERNET OPTIONS. The popup window next will have across the top the selection and you should choose PRIVACY. From the next popup choose ADVANCED.

From there you can customize what you want. Accept, Ask, etc. I suggest you consider not allowing the ones on the right side or you will get tons of cookies concerning advertising.

Another thing you can do is look for the red icon with the - on the taskbar at the bottom of the browser page. When you go to a particular web site that needs cookies, you can double click the icon and follow the instruction to "always allow that site to add cookies" and this might be easier in selecting individual sites.
