    Hey all,

My puter crashed for some unknown reason, it was working just fine then poof it went down. Anyways I cant even get it to boot to do a fresh format.
I cant get into bios at all it is as if the HDD has been wiped clean and there is nothing for it to boot to. Any ideas on how to get into it so that I can re install WIN XP. Un fortuantly I do not have a boot disk either (*SLAP*) me  anyways I cant get into it all if i turn it on it just sits there like there is nothing on the HDD. :(

Any help would be gretaly apreciated.
WIN XP SP2 (if it is still there) :D

    Regards,
    FireDancer

By none of the usual routes? Del - F1 at boot? So no POST screen?

Is the PSU OK - power light on? No power light would suggest a PSU failure.

Otherwise sounds like a major hardware failure on the mobo or CPU :(

    Hi PeteC

Yes, I have plenty of power on all the drives and the mobo. This cpu less then a year old. I did find out what as going on tho prior to sitting in front of it when it crashed. My oldest son was playing computer guru, is it possible that the hdd IS WIPED CLEAN just as it was when brand new and is there a way to get it to boot to DVD to get into it to reinstall if that is what is wrong?

    Regards,
    FireDancer

how far along does the power up/bootup sequence get? Is there anything on the screen at all or is it blank? Are you getting any beep codes? Do you see the winxp splash screen?

    FireDancer - I repeat ...
If that is fact you really do have a problem. Any computer will allow you to get into the BIOS, given that all is well, with or without a formatted hard drive. Apart from being detected the hard drive plays no part in the POST sequence. Once POST is past then the BIOS looks to the hard drive to load an OS - if present.
