My ISP gave me two computers and a loose CPU they no longer use -- albeit without hard drives, for obvious reasons.

One booted up just fine, a P3 (Slot 1) 600 SMP. The loose CPU is a P2 350 Slot 1.

The other computer's power supply is dead. Even the fan won't go. It's a generic so not worth investigating, and it'd take too much time for me to play musical power supplies. So I pulled out the CPU and found it's a Slot 1 Celeron dated 1998. The other printing on it says:
    08510834-SL2WM
    300A/66 COSTA RICA
I think I can figure out the Costa Rica part :p
    This surely can't be expecting 300 amps  , so I'd imagine this is a C300, FSB 66MHz * 4.5 multiplier.

Anyone care to challenge the above conclusions? How much L2 cache, if any, does it have? Or would this take L2 cache from the motherboard like a P200 or K6 would do? Anything else interesting about it?

The P2 looks better than the Celery, assuming the motherboard can take it. If I do go with the P2, I will know enough to try unloading the Cel by auction. I have not as yet identified the motherboard, which I can do after I get the dead power supply out.

    Celeron 300A - 300MHz (66x4.5) - 2.0v - 128KB L2 cache (Mendocino)

    Helps?
