I've encountered a Trojan Horse and seem to have eliminated it with quarantine and deletion with Norton antivirus.

I'm still getting a message when I start up, however, that the dll. file for NEWDOT can't be located. I've checked some on the internet and see this is also a Trojan Horse. Perhaps it's the remnant of what I deleted?

How can I enter the start up commands (config??) to eliminate this line so it doesn't try to load each time I reboot.

I also want to go through all the programs that are automatically being loaded. Any reference will be appreciated.

It likely that you have more than just this one gremlin. Deleting it completely can be difficult and if not done properly can cause additional problems.

I would recommend that you post a HiJackThis log in the Security forum here so that you can get expert help.

HiJackThis quick start instructions and download.

Ditto what surferdude2 said. The least of which is that you would lose your internet access.
Go to the Quicklinks page, and get Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. Install them both, and update them both. Do a scan with Ad-Aware and let it remove what it finds. Then Search For Problems with Spybot, and let it fix all items it has checked off for you. Then please post the HJT log in the Removing Spyware & Viruses forum.
