Help! I mistakenly copied emails to the hotmail folder in Outlook 2003

I was trying to create a follow-up folder for important emails and I mistakenly copied them to the "hotmail" subfolder of my inbox. I never use hotmail and when I opened the folder to retrieve them it wanted my hotmail account and password. Not knowing what to do, I signed up for a new hotmail account, but I can't find my emails!!!! Does anyone know how I can get my important emails back again!!!!

Step 1 - with Outlook closed, make a copy of your Outlook.pst and name it something else so if any repair attempts go wrong, you'll still have all your email contents and can restore to try again.

Step 2 - gonna have to think about this one a while unless someone else can jump in with a fix.
